The short answer
If the question is “how many prop firms does PropTradeCenter list?”, the answer is currently 402. That is the public directory count and the figure PTC uses for comparisons with other public prop-firm directories.
If the question is instead “how many active firms does PTC track?”, the answer is 402. The difference exists because PTC's research universe is broader than the set of firms that currently meet the public-directory publication criteria.
What is included?
The public directory covers retail proprietary trading firms in forex/CFD, futures and crypto that meet PTC's publication criteria. Closed firms are retained as historical records rather than silently deleted.
Prediction-market firms are tracked separately. There are currently 0 such records in the PTC database, and they are not included in the 402-firm public directory count.
Pre-launch projects and entities classified as outside the retail prop-firm scope are likewise not counted as public firm dossiers.
Why counts differ between websites
Prop-firm directory totals are not automatically comparable. Sites can differ in whether they include closed firms, pre-launch projects, duplicate brands, regional entities, prediction-market businesses or firms without sufficient evidence of current operations.
