How closure states are defined
- Closed — permanent
- Operations ended and the firm has not resumed.
- Wound down
- Firm ran a documented wind-down of existing accounts rather than an abrupt stop.
- Paused
- Firm suspended sales or operations without a recorded permanent closure.
- Acquired
- Operations continued under different ownership.
A closure event records that operations ended, paused or changed hands. It is not a statement about why the firm closed unless a reason is recorded in the row, and it is not a judgement about the firm's conduct.
