Editorial Policy

PropTradeCenter publishes independent research, data, rankings and market intelligence on the proprietary trading industry. Our editorial standards are built around four principles: evidence, independence, transparency and human editorial responsibility.

PTC may use artificial intelligence and automated systems to assist with research, data collection, classification, summarisation and draft preparation. These tools support the research process; they do not replace PTC’s editorial responsibility.

1. Editorial independence

  • PropTradeCenter does not accept payment to alter a firm's ranking or index score, a research finding, a risk assessment, an editorial conclusion, or the inclusion/removal of material evidence.
  • Advertising, sponsorships, affiliate relationships and other commercial arrangements are kept separate from PTC analytical/editorial processes.
  • A commercial relationship does not guarantee inclusion, favourable coverage, a particular ranking, or removal of negative findings.

2. Evidence before opinion

PTC aims to distinguish clearly between directly observed information, company-provided information, third-party data, calculated indicators, PTC estimates, editorial classifications, and information that has not been independently verified.

Research conclusions should be supported by documented evidence wherever practicable. Where evidence is incomplete, PTC may mark information as unverified, identify coverage as partial, withhold a score, or refrain from publishing a conclusion.

3. Sources

PTC research may use:

  • official firm websites and published terms
  • corporate and regulatory records
  • public company communications
  • platform and product documentation
  • independent data providers
  • website and search data
  • social and other public sources
  • archived historical observations
  • submitted reports and evidence
  • other relevant documented sources

Source reliability varies. PTC considers provenance, recency, independence and corroboration when assessing evidence.

4. Use of artificial intelligence

PropTradeCenter uses AI-assisted tools in parts of its research and production workflow. AI may assist with:

  • identifying and organising potential sources
  • extracting structured information
  • detecting changes in published information
  • comparing evidence
  • classifying research records
  • summarising source material
  • preparing draft research or editorial text

AI-generated or AI-assisted output is not treated as verified evidence merely because an AI system produced it. Material factual claims should be supported by source evidence appropriate to the type of publication.

5. Human editorial review and EU AI Act transparency

PropTradeCenter maintains human editorial responsibility for published research and editorial content. Our workflow is designed to meet applicable transparency requirements under the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), including applicable Article 50 requirements concerning AI-generated or manipulated content.

The Article 50 transparency obligations apply from 2 August 2026. The Regulation provides an exception from certain disclosure obligations for AI-generated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest where the content has undergone human review or editorial control and a natural or legal person holds editorial responsibility for publication.

Accordingly, material PTC research prepared with AI assistance is subject to editorial review before publication. Where applicable, public research may display the exact phrase: “Reviewed by PTC editorial staff”. Where AI-generated or manipulated material is published in circumstances where disclosure is legally required, PTC will provide an appropriate disclosure.

PTC does not represent AI review as independent verification. Editorial approval remains the responsibility of PTC.

6. Rankings, scores and estimates

PTC rankings, indexes and estimates are produced according to defined analytical methodologies rather than editorial preference. Editorial staff may review underlying evidence, data quality, coverage, methodological eligibility and publication readiness. They should not manually alter a score or ranking simply to produce a preferred outcome.

Where a methodology produces an incomplete or unreliable result, PTC may withhold publication rather than substitute a subjective score.

7. Corrections

The prop trading industry changes quickly, and errors can occur. Where PTC identifies a material factual error, we aim to correct it promptly. Depending on the nature of the change, PTC may:

  • correct the current record
  • preserve the previous historical observation
  • record a methodology or data change
  • update a publication
  • publish a clarification

Firms and readers may submit documented correction requests through PTC’s reporting or contact channels, including the Submit a Report page. A correction request does not guarantee that a firm's preferred wording or interpretation will be adopted.

8. Submitted reports and allegations

Reports submitted by traders, firms or other parties are not automatically treated as established fact. Submitted information may be reviewed, corroborated, compared against other evidence, classified as unverified, rejected, or retained privately for future investigation.

Personally identifying information is not published unnecessarily. Serious allegations require an appropriate evidentiary basis before being presented as established findings.

9. Conflicts of interest and commercial disclosure

PTC may have advertising, sponsorship, affiliate or other commercial relationships with companies operating in markets covered by PTC. Such relationships do not determine editorial outcomes. Where a commercial relationship is relevant to how a reader may interpret content, PTC aims to disclose it appropriately.

See also the Terms of Service and Methodology & Data Standards.

10. Methodology changes

PTC analytical methodologies evolve as data availability, coverage and the industry itself change. Material methodology changes should be documented rather than silently incorporated. Where appropriate, historical snapshots are preserved so users can distinguish changes in underlying firm performance from changes caused by methodology.

See the PTC Change Log and Methodology & Data Standards.
