PTC Ranking Movers — August 2026
Power, Growth and Market Presence: what changed, what was relative, and what the evidence can actually explain
When a prop firm rises or falls, what actually changed?
A firm's rank can move because its own score improved. It can also move because competitors weakened, the ranking universe changed, or better data became available. And even when PTC can identify the mathematical driver of a move, that does not automatically reveal the real-world cause.
The question a league table cannot answer
PropTradeCenter's August Ranking Movers study asks a question that a league table alone cannot answer: when a prop firm rises or falls, what actually changed?
A firm's rank can move because its own score improved. It can also move because competitors weakened, the ranking universe changed, or better data became available. And even when PTC can identify the mathematical driver of a move, that does not automatically reveal the real-world cause.
For this study, PTC analyzed the transition from the final July 2026 ranking snapshots to the August calculations across PTC Power, Market Presence and a 41-firm Growth group that can be compared reliably.
Brand Strength is not included as a standalone mover ranking. Historical methodology and data-coverage differences make some July-to-August Brand comparisons too uncertain for that.
Five findings define August
The wider lesson is that August was not simply a month of winners and losers. It contained genuine improvement, genuine deterioration, relative rank moves, unexplained changes and apparent gains that do not survive a comparability check.
Sway Funded showed the clearest genuine improvement
Its published Power score increased from 28.3 to 32.9 and its rank moved from #85 to #47. After correcting a known July Growth-data omission using only information that existed at the time, Sway's research-comparable Growth score increased by 36.1 points. The improvement is mechanically strong, but PTC did not find enough evidence to explain the underlying real-world cause. Attribution: UNEXPLAINED.
Fintokei showed the clearest genuine deterioration
Its Power score fell from 33.4 to 29.2 and its rank dropped from #42 to #74. Its research-comparable Growth score declined by 21.5 points, while Brand also weakened. PTC found several positive company initiatives in the preceding 90 days rather than an obvious negative event. The deterioration therefore remains UNEXPLAINED.
Lucid Trading recorded the strongest positive Market Presence move among firms present in both months
Its PTC Market Presence score rose from 48.3 to 55.6. Lucid is also the clearest case where a company development falls inside the exact attribution window: on July 31 it published its LucidDaily evaluation structure, including one-time pricing, no monthly rebilling, rapid funded-account activation and configurable drawdown options. PTC considers this a plausible contributor, not proof of causation. Attribution: MODERATE.
IC Funded shows why rank movement is not the same as score movement
It climbed 12 places in Power, from #94 to #82, while its score increased only 1.4 points. PTC's counterfactual indicates that only about four places came from its own score improvement; roughly eight came from competitor and universe effects.
Funding Pips shows why better data must not be mistaken for better performance
Its published Power score rose from 73.7 to 76.7, driven mathematically by a 17-point Brand increase. But July search-visibility coverage is absent while August contains substantial visibility data. PTC therefore does not classify the +17 Brand move as genuine improvement. The comparison is COVERAGE-CONSTRAINED.
August's most important movers
Sway Funded — Strongest reliable Growth acceleration
Comparable Growth +36.1; Power #85 → #47 — Genuine improvement; UNEXPLAINED.
Fintokei — Strongest reliable Growth deterioration
Comparable Growth −21.5; Power #42 → #74 — Genuine deterioration; UNEXPLAINED.
Lucid Trading — Largest positive Market Presence move
MPI 48.3 → 55.6 — Best-explained mover; MODERATE.
IC Funded — Rank rose much more than score
Power #94 → #82; score +1.4 — Mainly competitor/universe-driven.
Funding Pips — Data-coverage warning
Brand 72 → 89; Power +3.0 — COVERAGE-CONSTRAINED.
Sway Funded — Genuine improvement
Sway Funded's published Power score increased from 28.3 to 32.9, while its rank moved from #85 to #47.
Published Power breakdown: Market Presence +0.07; Growth +4.98; Brand −0.40; Trust 0.00; reconciliation residual −0.05. Growth was the clear driver.
There is an important historical qualification. July's published Growth calculation was missing its rank-change input. Because the previous and current scale ranks survive in PTC's historical records, that missing input can be reconstructed without using later information.
On the RESEARCH-COMPARABLE SERIES, Sway's Growth score was approximately 23.5 in July and 59.6 in August — an increase of 36.1 points.
That makes the finding stronger, not weaker. The published July Growth score understated the size of the subsequent improvement.
PTC's rank counterfactual points in the same direction. Applying Sway's August Power score to the July competitor universe places it in roughly the same ranking area as the actual August result. Most of its 38-place rise therefore came from its own score improvement rather than competitors moving around it.
What PTC cannot establish is why. No sufficiently strong company development was identified inside the valid attribution window to justify attaching a real-world explanation.
- Mechanical finding: genuine improvement.
- Primary driver: Growth.
- Rank classification: OWN-SCORE-DRIVEN.
- Real-world attribution: UNEXPLAINED.
- An unexplained mover is not a failed finding. It is better than attaching a convenient event to a change the evidence does not actually explain.
Fintokei — Genuine deterioration
Fintokei moved in the opposite direction. Its Power score fell from 33.4 to 29.2, while its rank declined from #42 to #74.
Published Power breakdown: Market Presence 0.00; Growth −2.25; Brand −2.00; Trust 0.00; reconciliation residual +0.05.
Fintokei's comparable July Growth score was approximately 54.2. August was 32.7. That is a 21.5-point decline, the largest deterioration among firms in PTC's reliable 41-firm Growth group.
This was not simply a relative ranking effect. Inserting Fintokei's August Power score into the July competitor universe would have pushed it slightly lower than its actual August position. The direction came from its own score deterioration.
The preceding 90-day context contains several positive developments rather than an obvious negative catalyst. Fintokei relaunched its Scaling Dojo on June 3, announced an FC Tokyo partnership on June 26 and released its Academy app on July 17. Those developments do not explain the decline. PTC found no sufficiently strong negative development inside the primary attribution window to support a causal explanation.
- Mechanical finding: genuine deterioration.
- Primary drivers: weaker comparable Growth and Brand.
- Rank classification: OWN-SCORE-DRIVEN.
- Real-world attribution: UNEXPLAINED.
Lucid Trading — The best-explained mover
Lucid Trading recorded the strongest positive July-to-August Market Presence move among firms present in both snapshots. Its PTC Market Presence score increased 48.3 → 55.6, +7.3 points and rank improved #5 → #3. Power score moved 52.1 → 54.7 and Power rank #7 → #6.
Power breakdown: Market Presence +2.56; Growth −0.30; Brand +0.40; Trust 0.00; residual −0.06.
PTC's previous Market Presence snapshot closed on July 30. On July 31, Lucid published its LucidDaily evaluation structure. The product offered one-time pricing without monthly rebilling, rapid funded-account activation without an activation fee, and configurable drawdown options. Other late-July Lucid product material predates the previous Market Presence close and is not primary evidence. The July 31 development sits directly between the two ranking cutoffs.
- Mechanical finding: strongest positive Market Presence move.
- Primary Power driver: Market Presence.
- Rank classification: OWN-SCORE-DRIVEN.
- Real-world attribution: Lucid's late-July product rollout may have contributed.
- Attribution confidence: MODERATE. PTC does not state that LucidDaily caused the +7.3-point increase.
IC Funded — Why rank movement ≠ score movement
IC Funded's Power rank rose #94 → #82, a 12-place gain, while its score increased only 26.3 → 27.7, +1.4 points. Holding July competitor scores fixed and inserting only IC Funded's August score gives roughly #90. The observed improvement therefore splits approximately into +4 places from its own score and +8 from competitor/universe movement.
- Mechanical finding: rank improved much more than underlying score.
- Rank classification: COMPETITOR/UNIVERSE-DRIVEN.
- Real-world cause: UNEXPLAINED.
Funding Pips — When better data looks like better performance
Funding Pips remained #1 in PTC Power. Published Power increased 73.7 → 76.7, +3.0. Breakdown: Market Presence 0.00; Growth −0.35; Brand +3.40; Trust 0.00; residual −0.05. Brand increased 72 → 89, +17 points.
PTC does not classify that as major genuine Brand improvement. July has no usable Funding Pips search-visibility observation; August does, including 1,130 organic keywords and a substantial organic traffic-value signal. The comparison crosses a data-coverage boundary. Once the missing July Growth rank input is reconstructed, the implied Power comparison shifts from published +3.0 to approximately −0.4 before Brand uncertainty is resolved.
- Published historical fact: Power 73.7 → 76.7 and Brand 72 → 89.
- Research conclusion: not sufficiently comparable to classify as genuine improvement.
- Status: COVERAGE-CONSTRAINED.
Market Presence Movers
Topstep's score rose 4.2 yet rank stayed #6; FundedNext fell 4.1 yet rank stayed #2. PTC does not publish detailed historical source-by-source explanations for these MPI moves because some raw source fields were refreshed after ranking calculation; frozen score changes remain valid.
- Lucid Trading 48.3→55.6 (+7.3), rank #5→#3
- Topstep 39.6→43.8 (+4.2), #6→#6
- Alpha Futures 16.8→20.7 (+3.9), #12→#11
- Hola Prime 5.0→6.7 (+1.7), #25→#20
- Top One Trader 3.6→5.2 (+1.6), #26→#23
- Take Profit Trader 61.3→50.8 (−10.5), #3→#5
- Breakout 14.2→5.7 (−8.5), #13→#22
- FundedNext 67.6→63.5 (−4.1), #2→#2
- FTMO 54.6→51.6 (−3.0), #4→#4
- Atlas Funded 7.6→5.0 (−2.6), #20→#24
Growth Movers — The 41 Firms We Can Compare Reliably
July omitted one Growth input across the ranking, while historical review-growth coverage was incomplete. PTC can reconstruct missing rank-change using only historical June/July information, but fully comparable three-input July-to-August Growth exists for only 41 of 96 firms in both published rankings. This is not an industry-wide Growth leaderboard; it is the RESEARCH-COMPARABLE SERIES.
PUBLISHED HISTORICAL SERIES is what PTC actually published at the time. RESEARCH-COMPARABLE SERIES is a separate research calculation when periods can be made comparable with information that existed at original cutoffs. It does not replace/rewrite published history.
- Sway Funded 23.5→59.6 (+36.1)
- 4PropTrader 36.5→61.1 (+24.6)
- TX3 Funding 22.2→44.9 (+22.7)
- Ment Funding 32.0→52.1 (+20.1)
- Goat Funded Futures 34.5→47.1 (+12.6)
- Fintokei 54.2→32.7 (−21.5)
- The Funded Trader 51.7→35.1 (−16.6)
- The 5%ers 55.2→38.8 (−16.4)
- Moneta Funded 58.2→42.9 (−15.3)
- Blueberry Funded 56.8→41.6 (−15.2)
What PTC can and cannot explain
PTC can establish absolute score changes, break Power moves into stored components, often distinguish own-score moves from competitor/universe rank effects, and identify coverage-constrained apparent gains. It cannot turn every score movement into a neat business story.
Sway: UNEXPLAINED. Fintokei: UNEXPLAINED. IC Funded: UNEXPLAINED. Funding Pips: COVERAGE-CONSTRAINED. Lucid: strongest attribution case, MODERATE not causal.
Methodology
PTC Ranking Movers compares successive ranking snapshots. Report both score and rank. Where possible run a rank counterfactual by inserting the new score into the previous competitor distribution. Stored Power component changes explain how the PTC score changed, not why the business changed. Real-world developments are researched separately.
- ATTRIBUTION WINDOW = after previous ranking calculation and before current one.
- FORWARD OBSERVATION WINDOW = after current cutoff and before next ranking.
- Later events cannot explain the current ranking.
- HIGH = direct evidence/timing/metric strongly align.
- MODERATE = meaningful alignment but causation unproven.
- LOW/POSSIBLE = plausible but limited.
- UNEXPLAINED = mechanical movement identified but insufficient real-world cause. PTC does not force an explanation.
- Preserve both separately.
- Comparable research uses only information available at original cutoff and no look-ahead; it never alters published ranking history.
- Qualify/exclude when coverage/methodology prevents defensible comparison.
- July → August 2026 only; no three-month momentum classifications.
- Brand Strength not standalone.
- Growth tables cover 41 reliably comparable firms, not full universe.
This PTC Data Study compares successive PTC ranking snapshots for July → August 2026 only. Stored component changes explain how a PTC score changed, not why a business changed. Where the evidence does not support a real-world explanation, the mover is reported as UNEXPLAINED rather than attributed to a convenient event. The research-comparable series never replaces or rewrites published ranking history.
