The strategic direction of the industry is corporatization and vertical integration, not broad ownership concentration.
Across the major brands examined, no single ownership bloc was found. What the public record does show is prop firms acquiring or being absorbed into broader financial groups, and brokers, exchanges and platform providers moving closer to the funded-trader product.
What this report covers

- Contracting legal entities and jurisdictions behind trader-facing brands
- Holding companies, corporate groups and traceable 2026 restructures

- Unresolved beneficial ownership and how PTC records uncertainty
What the research found
- No single ownership bloc was found across the examined major brands.
- FTMO/OANDA is the clearest documented transition from prop firm to diversified financial group.
- Alpha Group's 2026 holding structure is now fully traceable through George Kohler/Kohler Investment Group, Alexander Hagan/AMGP Consulting and Andrew Blaylock/AB Trading and Investing.
- Instant Funding acquired Funded Trading Plus while retaining separate brands.
- ThinkCapital/ThinkMarkets has documented corporate and infrastructure links, but current beneficial ownership of the ThinkCapital prop brand remains unresolved.
- Kraken/Breakout is the clearest exchange-owned prop-platform example.
- Acquisitions remain rare, and industry attrition must not be confused with ownership consolidation.
Who actually owns the prop firm you are about to pay?
The full report sets out the founders, contracting entities, holding structures and corporate groups behind major prop trading brands, distinguishes ownership from partnership and infrastructure relationships, and states plainly where beneficial ownership remains unresolved.
Public ownership evidence only — not a firm-level ranking of prop firms.
Findings rest on company registries, official legal terms and official announcements current to 30 August 2026. Where the public record does not establish ownership, the report records UNKNOWN or NOT INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED rather than inferring it. This publication is not a census of the industry and is not a firm-level ranking.
